Termites swarm in the springtime and are most active during the summer months. Winter temperatures may slow down their activity but freezing cold will not kill a subterranean termite colony. They remain active below the surface even though you may not see the signs. If you do come across mud tubes or softy wood in your basement or crawlspace in the winter time, it is indeed possible that you have an active termite infestation https://www.catopestcontrol.com/termite-inspection-treatment
