Why Wasps Sting

Wasps  become a nuisance if they nest close to buildings. They are easily agitated by noise and movement and will sting as a result. Most wasp stings occur in late summer, when wasp colonies stop breeding new workers; the existing workers search for sugary foods often causing them to come into contact with humans. People commonly react aggressively causing the wasps to sting. Wasp nests made in or near houses, such as in roof spaces, can present a danger as the wasps may sting if people come close to them. Stings are usually painful rather than dangerous, but in rare cases people may suffer life-threatening shock. Wasps will often return to the same nesting spot year after year. A professional pest control provider may be necessary to thoroughly and permanently exterminate repetitive wasps.
